It’s an incredible honor to spend two years with students at such an important stage of life. I love watching them grow personally, emotionally, and academically. Additionally, I love the fun and enthusiasm of these kids!
About Courtney Bond
Why I Teach: I teach because it is my passion. I love watching the lightbulb turn on in a kid’s brain. I love helping kids discover that they can do hard things and that they are important.
About Mella Bradshaw
I teach because I wanted to make a difference in children’s lives. I love that I make all jobs possible, because of what I do.
About Hannah Cluff
Why I Teach: I teach because I love seeing student excitement when they learn something new. It is so wonderful to be able to hear new songs start from scratch each semester and end up sounding great!
About Carrie Crosby

About Rebecca Diggs
Why I Teach: I want to make a difference in every child’s life just like my favorite teachers did for me.
About Beverly Flygare
Why I Teach: I want to try to make a difference in the lives of the students not only by encouraging them to learn new things but also by being one more adult who thinks they’re wonderful and believes in their potential.
About Mary Greer
Why I Teach: I love the excitement of interacting with young people. I love that I always have the opportunity to learn new things and share that with students.
About Amy Jarvis
Why I Teach: I first began to teach because I needed a ‘single mom’ job, so substitute teaching worked well. But I liked subbing so much that I decided to get a teaching certificate. I love the kids and the atmosphere at our schools and I can’t think of anything I would rather do!
About Jacque Kizzar
Why I Teach: I teach for the outcome! I love teaching 7th/8th graders. I begin every year with the hope of making a positive difference in the life of at least one of my students!
About Carol Mora
Why I Teach: I teach because I love the challenges that come with every day. I enjoy incorporating technology into lessons because sometimes even a little bit of the right technology can be just what’s needed to help get the message across to students. Teaching requires the use of so many gifts and talents, and I love trying to improve myself and increase my talents so that I can help others grow also. You know you’re a teacher when you wake up in the middle of the night with another “fantastic school idea”!
About Amy Moter
Why I Teach: I love teaching because I love children and I knew that I wanted to make a difference in children’s lives! I love seeing their progress from year to year!
About Keirsten Nielsen
Why I Teach: I love math! As an elementary aged student, I found math to be one of my favorite subjects. Between seventh grade and my freshman year I started to lose my math confidence and went to summer school. I had an amazing teacher there, Mr. Willis, who with one lesson got me back on track. I whizzed through that summer class and my sophomore through senior years. I knew after that teacher helped me regain my confidence that I wanted to be a math teacher. I want math to be cool, fun, and yes, even exciting for my students! I hope I can pass that love on to the students in St. Johns.
About Ruthie Price
Why I Teach: Music just makes the world better! As a music teacher, I want my students to first, know that I love and value them and second, to love music. I want to teach them the art of playing a string instrument and to have an outlet for their creativity. I want them to be able to express joy, happiness, comfort when they’re sad or hurting, and to offer all of that to others as well.
About Mary Jo Raykovitz
I teach because I love touching kids’ lives. I love it when kids come back to me years later, to tell me that I inspired them in some way or another. I know I chose the right career for my life because I love going to work.
About Hannah Sealy
I teach in order to help my students become the best person they can be socially, emotionally, and academically.
About Kirstin Udall
Why I Teach: I teach because I enjoy hearing perspectives of all kinds. Kids are so amazingly clever and view the world in a unique way. Students with questions impress me as they search to find answers and a perspective that resonates with them. In my schooling experience, I did not dare ask questions, and that really held me back from being successful. I want students to know that questions are a part of life and a way to discover a path that will open doors to more questions. My hope is that students will find questions that inspire them to dig further, research more, and understand others better. Searching for answers is the fun part of teaching because it allows for individuals to discover their voice and point of view and see their place in this amazing world.
