Elections

First off, we want to thank Dave Eisley for his 8 years of service to the Governing Board. Being on a school board is quite a community service and we are so grateful for Dave’s continued, steady leadership. His career as an educator put him in a great position to lead as a Governing Board member. We will miss him.

We are excited to welcome Keirsten Nielsen to the Board and believe she will do a wonderful job. We are so grateful for all those who voted to continue the DAA override. It passed by a margin of 60%-40%. We are fortunate to live in a community that has always been so supportive of our schools. We look forward to continuing to use this money to make our schools excellent.

Volleyball

Our HS volleyball team was the 2A runner-up, beating the #2, #3, and #7 seed in the process. They were also undefeated at home this season. Their playoff run was really fun to watch as they continued to knock off teams who were ranked higher than they were. In the championship game, our girls took the first set before losing 3-1. We are so proud of them and their coaches!

St. Johns High School Receives an “A” Rating

St. Johns High School received an "A" rating, a distinction reserved for only the top schools in Arizona. Schools receive grades based on state test scores, graduation rates, and college and career readiness indicators (i.e. FAFSA forms filled out, CTE courses completed by a student, passing grades by students in higher-level classes, etc.). SJHS was one of only a couple of schools in the region that received this distinction. We are fortunate to have some great teachers, administrators, and staff members at the high school who do so much to make it what it is.

Other Happenings

Here are a few other things to be aware of.

·      We had our annual Veteran’s Day Assembly on November 10th and it was a great success. Rae Womack has organized this assembly for the past 19 years, and this year we highlighted “Women in the Military.” Our students who sang did an amazing job!

·      On November 15th, we hosted a “Career Night” at the high school with about a dozen individuals from our community who have different jobs presenting information on their careers. It was great to see students interacting with each of these individuals and getting more information regarding potential career options for students. We are so grateful for Rick Johnson, Tobie Overson, and everyone else who made this happen.

It has been a great month!

Respectfully,

Kyle Patterson
