Local Attractions

Whether you’re visiting or planning a move to the St. Johns area, don’t miss out on some of these attractions and events.

Big Lake Recreation: Outdoors enthusiasts will enjoy the Apache-Sitgraves National Forest and its hiking and camping facilities. The 575-acre lake is a great place to get away and relax.

Apache County Fair: Held each September, the Apache County Fair features family-friendly fun with entertainment and 4-H competitions.

Lower Zuni River Archaeological District: Located about 25 miles northeast of town, you’ll find 89 archaeological sites that date back to 800 A.D. Visit for a step back in history.

Isaacson Building: Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this building (also known as the Greer Hotel) was built in 1918 by Genaro Acosta.

Pioneer Days: Held every summer, Pioneer Days celebrates the entry of Brigham Young and the first group of Mormon pioneers to Utah’s Salt Lake Valley in 1847. Many of St. John’s residents have descendants who were part of that group of pioneers.
