Homecoming

Homecoming 2023 was a great success and we are grateful for all of those who participated and made it possible. Brandi Oveson and the student council deserve a lot of the credit. We had a great turnout at all of the festivities, and students and staff went all out this year for dress-up days. We had about 10 people from the class of 1974 and 10 from the class of 1999 attend the activities on Friday, and our culinary class did a great job organizing and carrying out the lunch for these alumni.  Our high school sports teams were a perfect 11-0 during homecoming week!

Weight room & Wrestling Room

The weight room/wrestling room safety initiative project was a huge success. We had a few hundred people from the community walk through during the community open house. We are so grateful for all of those who made this project possible. We believe that students will benefit from this project for years to come. As an update, the wall mats for the wrestling room are still on backorder but should be in by January, and the wrestling mats have been laid down. We are thrilled with how this all turned out and grateful for the school board for making this a possibility.

Other Happenings

Þ    Sound panels were installed in the middle school cafeteria, and they have made a huge difference in reducing the noise level.

Þ    We are working with Mutalink to create a security system that brings all emergency personnel on the same network in cases of school emergencies. Mutualink installed the hardware this past month, and we have been working with them and our IT people to get the cameras and users put into the system. Once it is up and running, this system will allow administrators and the SJPD and ACSO to work in unity over the same camera and radio network during any type of emergency. We believe this project will prove to be a huge benefit in making us more secure.

Þ    Our 8th grade softball team took 2nd place at the region tournament, and our 7th graders finished undefeated. We are so proud of them and their coaches.

Þ    Quarter 1 of the school year ends on October 13th, with parent-teacher conferences happening the following week.

Fall is a really fun time around the district, with students participating in so many activities.  We are really fortunate to have so many good people in our schools and in our community that provide so many great opportunities for our young people.
