Below is information from SRP regarding an event they will be hosting at the SJMS tomorrow. "We’re pleased to notify you that Salt River Project (SRP) will be hosting an informational open house expo later this month for community members to learn about SRP’s Coal Communities Transition efforts, which includes the Coronado Generating Station (CGS) Repurposing Study. The event will be held at the St. Johns Middle School cafeteria, 555 W. 7th St. S., St. Johns, AZ on October 25, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Please come anytime. This is an open house format, there is no formal presentation. CGS is scheduled to be retired no later than 2032. SRP seeks to support impacted communities as they endeavor to develop sustainable and strategic local economies. As part of this effort, SRP has launched the CGS Repurposing Study. The study is examining technologies to determine which, if any, could offer viable alternatives to coal generation. This is the first step in the process of identifying options and planning for the future.

Our thoughts and hearts are with the Jensen family. As many of you may be aware, our sweet Aaliyah has passed away. To offer support to her family and friends, we are asking that all of our staff and students wear pink tomorrow. Aaliyah was only with our Coronado family for a short time, but she has had a great impact on us all and she will be greatly missed. #Aaliyahstrong

SHOUT OUT TO OUR SCHOOL BOARD AND OUR STAFF! Each Fall, the state releases accountability measures for every school in the state. These two graphs show the percentage of St. Johns' students scoring over a specific proficiency rate in comparison to the percentage of students in the rest of the state who scored over those same proficiency rates in both English Language Arts (ELA) and Math for school year 2021-2022. As you can see, we have some amazing teachers and staff members who work tirelessly to help students succeed. Thank you teachers and staff! As these numbers have been released, many school administrators around the state have noted the "learning loss" that occurred during Covid-19 due to all the disruptions to students' learning (e.g. schools closing, schools modifying schedules, the uncertainty of what schools would do week to week, etc.). We are so grateful for a school board that found ways to keep students safe while also keeping them in school with limited disruptions throughout the pandemic. Our students have benefited from that! Thank you school board: Brent Overson, Eve Patterson, Delos Bond, Leslie Wenhardt, and Dave Eisley.

If you are planning on doing a float for the homecoming parade and have not filled out the float form, please get with Olivia Wiltbank at wiltoli@student.sjusd.net or call the high school office. We don't have a lot of float forms turned in and we want this to be a successful parade! Remember the parade will follow the same route as last year!
