Happy World Kindness Day!!!!

Coronado students learned a lot about Veterans Day this week! Thank you to all who have served, secured our freedoms, and have kept us safe. Thank you to Rhonda McCarthy for the idea of a Veteran's wall and the donation of American Flags.
Reminder: There will be no school tomorrow: Nov. 10, 2023

Mark your calendars!!! Our Scholastic Book Fair will take place the same week as our Christmas Music Programs. December 7th- 14th (8:30am-3:00pm.) Books make excellent Christmas presents. Help us add new books to our school library by purchasing books for your family!!!

Halloween was so much fun, but now it is over. Please do your best to prevent your children from bringing candy to school. We've got candy wrappers everywhere, especially on the busses, where it is definitely not allowed. Thank you!!!

Huge Shout-out to the staff and students of St. Johns Unified School District. For two years in a row, they have produced an "A-Rating." Coronado itself does not receive a letter grade, but they contribute to the middle school's score and obviously build that strong foundation that helps create excellence in our district!!!

Great news! The Arizona State Board of Education released school grades over the weekend, and SJMS and SJHS both received an "A" rating. Coronado Elementary does not qualify for a school grade, but their proficiency scores are calculated in SJMS' school grade. Overall student proficiency was up across the district.
We are so fortunate to have the teachers, administrators, aides, and other staff members that we have who are so dedicated to seeing students succeed. We are so proud of them!

We would like to thank our community, Peggy Turnbough, Loretta Bilberry, Rae Womack, and Carmen Tanner for your very generous donations! At the Apache County Fair, during Mexican Hertiage Day, they were able to raise funds that wen to purchasing a great deal of supplies for our teachers!!!

Quarter #1 Coronado Site Council will be held tomorrow, Thursday September 21st at 6pm. All stakeholders are welcome to come get a status update on school improvement and to come share your ideas and thoughts!!!

Check out our new art work, across the hall from our Hero's Wall, by the cafeteria. This quilt was donated by Mrs. Rhonda McCarthy. It was created by the late Odet Bloomfield who wanted to do something to honor our local hometown veteran's! Before she could get it all quilted, she passed away. Becky Orona had some connections and got it quilted. Our amazing maintenance team got it hung up yesterday! I am so glad we get to celebrate our local hero's here at Coronado Elementary with this beautiful quilt.

Reading Under the Stars is September 26th from 6pm to 7pm. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Feel free to bring blankets and wear your pajamas!!! Come ready to listen to some great stories under our beautiful night sky!
